Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

I’m not sure where all the anger is coming from, but I’ve never had problems with Stuffit and I’ve used it since it was shareware. This update installed with no problems whatsoever...and Magic Menu, which I really like a lot, launched with absolutely no problems upon rebooting after install. Version 12.0/12.01 seem to have fixed the problem I had in v.11.x where Magic Menu would sometimes quit randomly when I clicked on its menu.

Is Stuffit perfect? No, far from it but it has a huge set of different things it does and I hope that the developers continue de-bugging and updating/upgrading this for years to come.

Does NOT work fine! - tliszt

I have installed the DLX12 Engine Patch for Symantec AntiVirus 10, and the errors persist.

NOT if you use Norton AntiVirus - tliszt

StuffIt Deluxe v12.0.1 prevents Norton AntiVirus for Mac (v10) from installing, rendering the antivirus software useless.

Gee, from what I see in the reviews for Norton, it doesn’t seem to work anyway...and most folks seem to be recommending ClamX instead. Having used a Mac intensely since 1984 and never having encountered one virus, I don’t use antivirus software...however at some point, I’m sure they’ll start picking up...if Macs become more popular among evil virus developers.

NOT if you use Norton AntiVirus - Shark Attack Design

At the risk of turning this into a virus debate (rather than a Stuffit one), I would just point out that a Mac can pass on a file infected with a Windows virus just as well as a PC can. And although I'm a die-hard mac user, I have no desire to spread viruses to PC users or anyone else, so I scan my hard drive and any incoming files with ClamXav, which does very nicely it seems. Anything less would just be irresponsible and potentially discourteous, IMO.
