I have a registered version of LaunchBar (earlier version) but I long ago dumped it. Why? Because it was no longer needed, so why have it taking up disk space.
I use Spotlight for all the functions LB was used for. Spotlight even brings up contacts for emails, etc. I also got tired of throwing away money on "one-trick-ponies" like LaunchBar and TypeIt4Me, etc. Especially as there are so many low-cost or no-cost alternatives available, Often the alternatives are not only cheaper but better. Seems like these developers are only interested in continuing to milk an already dead horse.

and.... woohooo!!! You've saved 3 MB. How anyone can possibly think that Spotlight comes close to duplicating the functionality of LaunchBar is beyond me. Apparently you don't really use LaunchBar for all its capabilities.Friday, November 23 2007 @ 12:03 PM PST

lol - someone got out of the wrong side of bed.LB is by far the better product with exceptional configurability. Since it's inception I have despised Spotlight. It offers the world but Apple has tied it down based on the lowest skilled user. It's limits on configuration and the blinkers approach to finding files are good examples. If I could uninstall Spotlight I would.

1. This application existed long before Spotlight ever did.2. Spotlight is slow and clunky compared to Launchbar (or even Quicksilver) as a launcher given less fine grain controls over what you index for launching versus what you don't.
3. Spotlight doesn't let you create scripts and triggers to take place when you complete certain actions. Launchbar does.
4. I've had my Spotlight indexes get corrupted many times. That's never happened with Launchbar.
Before you start calling something a "One Trick Pony", perhaps it might help to understand the product more prior to opening your mount and making a developer sound greedy.
