Thanks for making this little software available. I have been looking for a way to backup my iPod files for a long time.
However, there is one thing I don’t get: podUp alters the characters of certain words such as “umlaute” or accented characters, eg:
“ü” becomes “,”
“Helén” becomes “HelËn”
“MFÖ” becomes “MF÷”
“Björk” becomes “Bjˆrk”
...and so on.
This is so annoying, particularly since the tool is so useful otherwise! It is not desirable to redo all this by hand. Is there a way of working around this? Even more annoying is that the author's contact email address is dead. Please can you get in touch? - As I said, apart from this flaw: excellent tool!
I am using a Macbook Pro on OS X 10.4.11.

scrambles accented / "umlaut" characters - masmit
I think I've found the problem...it seems that Apple use a non-apple character set in iPod/iTunes/Music files...it should be a simple fix, but I need to check a couple of things. Hopefully I'll have a new version up in a day or two.Best,
Mark

I'm really sorry to hear podUp is scrambling things...Can you tell me what language your system is running? And were the problem files encoded with iTunes?
Feel free to email me at futsoft@futility.co.uk
Thanks,
Mark
