This is what the developer wrote me after my last post here:

Man, sorry. We must have missed your earlier mail. This program does not do any of the things that you are describing. There is ZERO chance that iPhoneDrive could be doing what you described. It simply moves files back and forth using the same protocol used by iTunes. It does NOT generate a "user" of any sort. It does not "login", or anything like that. The extra data that you saw on your phone was most likely a side effect of skipping a step in the unlocking procedure. I would ask you to remove the review as it just shows your lack of understanding.
Thanks, Glen.

Here is what i wrote back:

1st of all i never told anybody that i understood how iphonedrive works, the only thing i can do is to observe if and maybe how a program works. As i told you before my iphone was working pretty normal b e f o r e i installed iphonedrive. And i noticed what happened a f t e r w a r d s . If you think my lack of understanding is represented by this, maybe you are right, maybe your wonderful product did not do all of these things, maybe aliens came to town and decided to do strange things to my iphone, maybe George W. should get nominated for the nobel prize for peace and maybe the pope is muslim.

What i know for shure is: I installed nothing else than iphonedrive and used ist for two times. after the first use of iphonedrive there was a second folder with media on my iphone and the old mediafolder, which was the only valid folder for storing media b e f o r e installing your product was never ever again recognized again a f t e r the installation of your product. These are the facts.

I don´t care why iphonedrive did this, that´s not my matter, as you can imagine. What i tried to do was to help the developer of this program, which could be a nice tool,if it worked properly with unlocked phones, too. If my attempt is not of interest for the developer take my excuse for bothering you with my mails. (btw: your faith in your spam-filter shows me your lack of understanding on how to use an email-client)

So i will not remove my post on versiontracker because there will be other users in the community expieriencing the same problems as i had them. maybe they are looking for a solution of their problem. maybe they need help, maybe my post will help them. maybe they need their phonefor making a call. AND MAYBE THEY DON´T WANT TO WAIT ALL THE TIME YOU NEEDED TO HAVE A LOOK IN YOUR JUNKMAIL FOLDER!!! And maybe they do not want to hear sentences like: "I am sorry the phenomenon you described has never happened before!" (Sounds like the first sentence on page one of the little blackbook for the first level supporter)

So, if you think my post is not helpful (for potential other users) find the little blue Button at my post called "Alert Admin" and follow the instructions, otherwise please leave me alone. Versiontracker is an open forum to exchange expieriences that users have made while using programs. It is also an open forum for consumers to tell others how developers react to Support-Request. Using a Spam-Filter with its sensitivity set to "high" is very easy to handle for the supporter, just try it out, there will be nearly no Requests in your inbox, but the community of Application-Users does definitly not like this kind of behaviour.

Be shure that i will post this entire thread on versiontracker, maybe on macupdate and macgadget, too. i guess you can imagine which kind of valuation you will get. hope this will show you the importance of not to show a lack of respect, politeness and trustfulness as you did while writing to a potentially new customer.

Since when is it appropriate for a software publisher to criticize a reviewer and take it so far as to request they remove their review!? Insane.

If one of us has trouble understanding the software, I would say that is the problem of the developer not the user. Software for the Mac needs to be dumbed down as much as possible because we live in a dumbed down generation.

Well, dumbing down or not, if you looked at the previous post by mcleod_68, you would see that his iPhone is unlocked. Which may or may not have caused the strange problems that he has encountered here.

Meanwhile, as a user who has from time to time been slow to understand any particular software, I should think that the 'problem' is neither the developer's nor mine alone. But surely a combative attitude would be less conducive to solving problems to the satisfaction of all concerned.

Just my two cents.
