I have a brand spanking new EyeTV Diversity and since I've had it, I have not been able to watch a program all the way through - it constantly freezes. The freezing was also happening under Eye TV 2.5.0 and OSX 10.5.0, I was hoping that with the updates of 2.5.1 and Leopard 10.5.1 that the issue would be resolved, but to no avail..

After anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, EyeTV will freeze and I will recieve the ball of death (clock), I cannot quit the application, option+apple+esc will not quit it, using the Activity monitor and force quiting the helper and main application will get rid of EyeTV from the screen and from the process list in activity monitor, but EyeTV remains active in the dock and by using the option+apple+esc I can see that EyeTV is still an active process, if I logout and back in I can not launch EyeTV it states that it is busy, so that I must restart the machine. Upon restarting all works again although within 10 to 45 minutes I will get a repeat of the problem and EyeTV freezes up again. I used to think that it was just a problem of when I was running.. say InDesign, Photoshop or something memory heavy that that would create the problem (some sort of memory issue I thought) as since purchase I have had non stop work, (each freeze then results to turning the real TV around so I can finish watching what I was watching until I can restart the machine) but over the last few days I have had a break and noticed that it happens even if I am running nothing or just doing email or safari work..

I am running an iMac Intel 2.33GHz Duo Core, with 2GBs of 667MHz RAM (Factory Fitted) the Video card is the higher available version the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT and it doesn't matter whether I am watching HD or SD TV the same problem persists.

Can anybody confirm similar issue please, if other people have the same issue, until it is resolved I cannot fully recommend this product!

EyeTV 2.5.1 Freezing - laszlokardos

I too have had very similar behavior from EyeTV since updating beyond Tiger 10.4.10 and even more so since updating to Leopard 10.5.1. regularly EyeTV 2.5.1 will not quit properly, hanging and requiring a hard re-boot. Very aggravating. I am using Miglia's MicroTV. I am looking for an alternative.

I'm using EyeTV 2.5.1 with an EyeTV Diversity on 10.5.1 on a Mac Pro 2.66GHz Quad 5Gb RAM. I'm not currently suffering from your problem but have found EyeTV prone to hangs in the past. Rather than resetting your Mac to kill the process, unplug the USB stick after force quitting EyeTV - this will kill the process completely.

EyeTV 2.5.1 Freezing - dommmm--2008

This is the buggiest piece of software I've ever seen, including alpha software! The odds of it recording something I've programmed are less than 50%; 0 minute recordings are quite common. It freezes while watching TV just as you've described and it is the software that is almost impossible to quit without rebooting.. Plus, none of this is new. It's been this way since 2.3.3 (which is as far back as my experience goes with it). When I looked into it at that time, reports like these were quite common. I e-mailed the developer and received no reply. They keep releasing software with new features (very incremental) but seem completely uninterested in getting the bugs out. I wonder how they stay in business.

EyeTV 2.5.1 Freezing - cor10

I too here in the Netherlands had this problem on my brand new iMac and eye TV hybrid, the first weeks it worked perfect, than the freezing problems began, finally I've got a brand new (warranty) eye TV hybrid usb stick from my dealer and the problem was gone! hard to believe it was the usb stick. However, an other problem which was gone, a freezing mouse pointer, returned. Returning the iMac from the stand by modus starts with a mouse pointer frozen only a forced shutdown and start up thereafter brings the pointer alive. Something has to freeze don't you think. I think that there is a conflict with the Eye tv and OS X software somewhere, I wait and search forums for solving my present problem, the freezing mouse pointer.
