I have used this ever since it first came out and I am impressed by the work it has done for me on my hard drives. After it has finished with a full optimize you just know that the heads on your drive are working more easily. Performance is improved.

What makes me laugh is the wording when they say. Leopard is not compatible with our software. Come on boys, just admit it. Your software is not compatible with Leopard.

You will feel better for it.

The Truth - Coriolis Systems

No, that's just not true, which is why we don't say it. The problem isn't compatibility either way. The problem is that Leopard appears to have a nasty bug somewhere in its disk subsystem. It just happens that iDefrag and iPartition are a particularly good way to trigger said bug, but you could do it using other software too.

In fact, we have a 45-line C program with no loops, no if statements, in fact no conditional code at all, that reliably triggers the problem on some machines.

I hope these guys get their trip together and make this software compatible with Leopard. They sent out an email saying that Leopard was not compatible with their software because of "an error in the Leopard kernel". A bit cheeky.

What I want to know is there anyone out there who will write a real defragmentation program for OS X 10.5? This system desperately needs to be free of the lies, egoism and cultic delusion that OS X does not need a defragmenter. As for idefrag, it is no DiskKeeper but at least it was a fairly good attempt to address what I perceive as a very real problem with all versions of the OS X operating system.

I use iDefrag on my Macs and Diskeeper on my spouse's WinTel. I have admired the job done by iDefrag as my machines always feel more responsive. Diskeeper has its work cut out for it, and never actually seems to get as thorough a job done as iDefrag, so I hope you will clarify your comment. They are both fine products. Please note that in the time I've had iDefrag installed they have never solicited me with emails for upgrades. This solicitation is a constant occurrence with Diskeeper. Beyond that there may be no fair comparison as the respective operating systems pose unique challenges to these products. Overall, I am quite satisfied with both products. And am very confident the folks at Coriolis won't make any statements they can't back with fact.
