This is a command-line suite of programs -- don't download it if you want a slick GUI.
That said, it is a wonderful tool for modifying images via scripts, which is great for batch processing.
How much time would you spend re-sizing a folder full of images, using Photoshop? With ImageMagick, it's one command line.
If you need to manipulate images from a script, this is the tool for you. You can even call it from PHP to manipulate images on-the-fly on a website, for generating thumbnail images, for example.

re: quickness vs Photoshop - LMaui
In photoshop you just create an action first which you can use over and over and from that day on it is 1 click also.Much easier than writing it over and over unless you are smart enough to create a script which most aren't.

Great reply. AND to all the Photoshop as an alternative posters, I respect your opinions, but not everyone can shell out the $700 or so for it.Sunday, October 26 2008 @ 07:09 AM PDT

Note that the download link loads the Intel version. The universal installer is available from the developer's site.Reply to This
