Existing users, 
My update to 10.5.1 appears rock solid so far. A repair of Disk Permissions completed maybe a tad slower than normal. No sign of the SUID glitch others have seen.
The only "voodoo" I apply is to boot up in Safe User mode prior to an OS update.
