Need a mute button!

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Contributed by: kronswirl Monday, November 12 2007 @ 02:39 PM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

I see Volume Up, Volume Down, but there's no mute key to program for my function keys! I just got an aluminum keyboad and absolutely need to have the mute key over here on the right side of the keyboard. I tried getting used to having the mute in the middle of the keyboard when I used a MacAlly iMediaCrackableKey keyboard, and I went insane. Need to put the mute in for F18!

Need a mute button! - drtimothyjames

I don't know if this would work, but could you just attach an applescript to it (via Butler) with "set volume 0?" I created a hot corner with that, and it mutes the system instantly. I don't see why you couldn't set it with that fkey. (I don't have one of those keyboards, so I might not know of what I speak. Just trying to help.)

Re: Applescript - kronswirl

I have no idea how to use Applescript, and if my only option is to use Hot Keys until the feature is added to Butler, then I'll just stick with the current position of the mute key on my keyboard.
