My first impression is what the hell is this piece of crap. It's clearly a poor man's Adobe Photoshop. I'll sleep on it and try it in the morrow. I don't like apps that phone home so I just might dump it for that reason alone. I really have no use for this cause I have everything else. They made it sound like something new and different. Besides being an ugly black, I don't see anything new. I looks like they took a chopped down copy of photoshop and made it look yuk.
Like I said. I'll give it a good try before zapping it.

Just because applications are choosing to be BLACK and ugly looking doesn't mean I have to like it.It looks like one of those geek punk gamers sites with all the black & red.
The kids today have no taste. They are a bunch of robot zombie mindless cold killing machines created by the CIA.

What a useless comment. Why are you so angry? It's just software. Sheesh. So you don't like the black. Big deal. It's not my favorite either, but to pan the entire app because of it is silly. Good for you that you own Photoshop. A lot of people don't, nor do they want to pay $800 when an app like Pixelmator accomplishes many of the same things for only $59. I love Photoshop, but Pixelmator is an awesome choice for people who are interested in a serious photo editor without the obscene price tag. It's surprising you haven't been banned for unwillingness to participate by VT's rules with respect and civility. Maybe their staff is tolerant because you're a paid subscriber or they don't see the negative, unprofessional impression you're making on this site that distracts from the helpful reviews/comments most people are interested in.

"ugly blank" is called HUD and is used in Apple's own iPhoto and Aperture, and more and more mac programs.You should give this app a good try like you said, before commenting so harshly.
