Apple is the new Microsoft

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

I knew this would happen when they became too popular.
They are ignoring their old base and gearing everything to sell more iPods and iPhones.
Does anyone remember when there was a release that was not 'mainly' to do with iPods or iPhones and more to do with improving or adding features to what it is supposed to be ... a music player.
Pretty much the same as every other quicktime and OS update .... everything is tied into selling more iPods and iPhones .... my guess is that soon a mac will not even boot up if there is no iPod or iPhone connected to it.

Apart from FLAC support (the lack of which is due to the fact that they would have to release their code as open source to use FLAC code), what else would you suggest they add to the app? It's the best jukebox out there. Period. There's some level when there are very few things left that they can add as far as new features.

Totally Agree - Prebinder

I totally Agree with you.
Once there was a time we have been afraid Apple will die because of the low Marketshare. Now we have a second Microsoft.
I do not see anymore a reason to be loyal with Apple since they do not seem to care about us and the long term Users.

The only advantage Apple has nowadays is that Microsoft is even more worse.

Totally Agree - Tyaris Major

What exactly is it about iTunes that gives you the impression that they "do not seem to care about us and the long term Users"?

iTunes is free. Something has to pay for it. There are obviously ties into iTunes Store, and it is designed to be the hub for the iPods.

But there isn't anything in there that actually compels you to use or buy either. You can turn off the Store completely, you can not buy an iPod, and it's still a fully featured player, encoder, burner, etc.

So, what exactly, specifically is the problem? If you're going to complain, you need to be specific about what it is that you're complaining about, otherwise it's just whining.

And by the way, re: complaints about them being all about iPods/iTunes, where have you been the last 11 days? Ever heard of a little something called Leopard?

What nonsense. Next thing, you'll buy an iPhone and whine that Apple isn't supporting it well enough.

Apple is the new Microsoft - Moonwatcher

Well, I'm not sure I'll go that far - by saying Apple is the new MS. But I agree that I liked Apple better in the "older" days before iPods, iTV, iPhones etc..... They were making computers and software that works, without an update every week or two to fix compatibility issues. I've always use Macs, but since they've gotten big, I don't know....quite different.

If I hear you correctly, you’re saying you don’t want them to modify the software to make it compatible?

No, I'm just saying that they should make the software a bit more compatible before they release the software, on issues that they know already.

Yeah, so? Go and use your WM player with a junky cheap MP3 player and save us your nonsense. It's not like you're paying for anything. iTunes is great!

Hey guys, just cool it a bit, OK ? I love iTunes and Quicktime. I use it everyday, and it's free ! Great. All I'm saying is that Apple has been known to release updates that actually mess up some people's computers, whether it's incompatibility with other software, or whatever. This happens mostly in Quictime. but at least they usually release another update to "fix" the problem. I just thought they should test their updates a bit more instead of posting the update, then finding out problems later. Anyway, I thought this is a place for opinions, whether you agree or not. Certainly not a place to start arguments or debates.
