1. Tried the trial. Liked it.
2. Paid for full version. Ran it on my computer.
3. Sold my computer, deleted SRS software. Installed on new computer using my reg code.
4. Eventually sold that computer (deleted iWOW, again). Installed on new computer with my reg code.
5. Hard drive crash. Re-installed iWOW using my paid-for reg code.
6. Sold that computer, deleted iWOW. Installed iWOW on new computer-- DENIED REGISTRATION with my paid-for license because I hit some sort of unspecified limit on the number of times I was allowed to install, even though they were NEVER simultaneous and no limit to installations was ever mentioned by SRS when I purchased the software.
7. emailed SRS politely asking for help on my purchased software. No response whatsoever.
8. emailed SRS again, asking for help. Again, no response.
9. emailed a third time, indicating my dissatisfaction with the way they treat a paying customer. No response.
10. Emailed a fourth time, indicating politely that I would inform people that they have lousy customer service and that their product is completely unsupported if they failed to respond. STILL no response.
That was months ago. They NEVER responded, and NEVER offered any way for me to use my license again. I am now stuck with a string of numbers and letters (the reg code) that cost me $30 and way too much of my time, and no SRS iWOW function on my new iMac.
So buyer beware. If your hard drive crashes, or if you buy a new computer, you WILL be cut-off from using your fully paid-for SRS iWOW license to activate the software after a set number of installations, and the customer service is NON-EXISTANT. They do not answer emails, apparently, and have never shown even the slightest trace of concern that a paying customer has been slighted by their draconian registration process.
NO OTHER online purchases for my Mac have done this to me. I can still use every other software package I purchased online, even though some of them have been through more installations and swaps to new computers or hard drives than SRS iWOW was, and I've purchased quite a lot of shareware and online-distributed software.
I will NOT give SRS another dime. They do not support their products, they do not answer emails, and worst of all, they leave paying customers with NOTHING after a set number of times re-installing their software. Even Microsoft will let people call in and explain why they've frequently activated Windows and judge on a case-by-case basis. SRS gives no such option. When you've hit the limit, your license is DEAD.
AVOID AVOID AVOID if you want to get value for your money.

I've had horrid dealings with SRS.I have only one Mac a G5. Installed my LEGALLY purchased copy of iWow starting with version 1.13. All went fine until seven weeks ago when I uopgraded iTunes to the latest version. When I relaunched iTunes, iWow then told me I had exceeded my allocated installations. Emailed SRS, after four days got a response that they would reset my activations, still no luck. I have had my iWow activations reset five times in the last two weeks, and I still can't use their product. They tell me now to buy an additional licence. I have bneen ripped off by their assinine activations scheme and they won't do anything about it. I did a clean of tiger on a brand new external drive friday night, and I get the same crap again

My reply was to the fellow who said I was a liar because he hadn't been ripped off.My reply, again: Just wait.
And to the above-- At least they responded to you. They never once sent a response to me (and no, it wasn't spam-trapped or anything). They simply refused the opportunity to contact me about this issue via email OR telephone. They simply ignored me, which is the REAL unforgivable thing about this situation. If they had bothered to talk to me at all, I might not be as upset by their deceptive business practices.

I will need to reformat my eMac soon as well as buy myself a MacBook Pro, and I must admit that the stories I'm reading about this issue on many forums are paralyzing me with fear. So much so that I am afraid to reinstall the software. I can only offer my sympathies to those who have been stung in this fashion. It's treatment like this this that gives people a good basis to hack software until it runs properly.Wednesday, November 14 2007 @ 05:34 PM PST

Make sure you save your "com.srs.iwow.plist" file in the preferences if you plan on reinstalling your system. Note this file is hardware specific.Saturday, November 17 2007 @ 10:29 AM PST

I have ran into the same problem! They did finally respond to me and gave me a new code. Then 3 months ago I bought a new computer, removed the program from my old one, and ran into the problem again with no response...I agree, DO NOT PURCHASE!
I have been using a new enhancer OSS 3D. It is far more powerful and works system wide, not just iTunes.

Luckily nobody !has! to use it.
I mean, yes it sounds amazing even on my small MBP 17'' built-in speakers and is a huge improvement with my SHURE in-ear headphones as well...
But if you are lucky enough to have Rogue Amoebas Audio Hijack Pro you are done: Hijack your sound from whatever source it comes and use the Effects-Tab to Exitify your sound. It works like a breeze and sounds REALLY good.
I'm puzzled anyway why you Music-Lovers out there might not know or - even worse - have not heard of this must have app.
Btw. it can do wonderful things for you and costs - uuhm, the same than iwow you complain so much about :-)
A nice day for you guys...

Am I right in assuming that they only allow 3 activations then? Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.Reply to This
