Who are they kidding?

Feedback Type:  Usage Tip

Contributed by: deltagroup Friday, November 02 2007 @ 03:32 PM PDT

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Recommend Product: NO

My prior, purchased version of FLVR bunged-up OS 10.5 Safari so badly that I had to "Archive & Install" to fix the damage - despite being promised a free upgrade to this new version at the TastyApps site, I have now contacted them 3 times, without a response, & I'm still waiting - a week later!!!

My suggestion - to those who are also inconvenienced by this poor customer service - buy the new version for $8 & then instruct your credit card company to charge that $8 amount back to them (If you've purchased within the past 60 days, you may be able to still charge-back the original $15) …

Who are they kidding? - tasty_cust_service

Look,

We are doing our best to keep up with recent changes in Leopard - We are contacting everyone within 24 hours from the time they have emailed us. If you haven't received a response please try again.

We are offering a free upgrade - which most companies aren't doing. Its tough to keep everyone happy - but we are really trying !

Future versions will support a wider range of video embeds, formats etc.

We're doing our best.

Who are they kidding? - PowerTama

I had tried to get in touch with them a week or two ago via the website with no response. Then last night (Friday 11/2) I emailed TastyApps (in reply to the regsitration confirmation email from early summer 2007) and got a response this morning ALONG WITH a registration file for Videobox.

At first I didn't like the idea of a separate piece of software (I liked the way FLVR worked as a plug-in).... however after downloading about 20 files with Videobox last night, I found that I like Videobox much more than I liked FLVR b/c Videobox asks me immediately what I'd like to name the movie file (which I can just cut-n-paste from YouTube) and it is only running when I need it. Would a plug-in version be nice? Perhaps it would. I'll see in a few months how I like the difference.

In any case: What a nice developer. Yes, I didn't get a response from the first email, but today I got a response with a humble apology and a license to use the new version that I bought in June or July. I feel better about having paid $15 for FLVR now that I can use Videobox in 10.5. The author had some issues, give the guy a break, he's only human. At least he wasn't a snide jerk about it; he apologized and is working his best to get back on his feet. Two thumbs up.

p.s. They're now selling the software for $8. It's a bargain!

p.p.p.s. @Deltagroup. I'm sorry to hear that archive and install story... what a headache. Hopefully your computer is fine now. Best wishes, PT
