I downloaded iPhoto 08 free, along with other free Apple downloads, after seeing this could be done in Preview. I was very disappointed to see there seem to be no new editing features, only Apple Adverts to click on for having your photos made into books, etc.
Now I find every day my chosen desk top picture (Hal 9000) and screen saver (alarm clock) are continually replaced by Apple Adverts for their products. I cannot get any response out of Apple either, or find out how to switch off the interference. An article I read in a magazine about how it is not necessary to be on, quote "the bleeding edge of technology" with updates of everything holds true. From others comments it seems about 50 50 you will regret any update, and continually look back with regret to your old software. Having said that I found that the update of Comic Life was excellent and better.
If anyone knows how I can stop my screensavers being hijacked by apple adverts day after day, please leave a message under replies. Thanks!

HIJACKED SCREEN SAVERS - DavidRavenMoon
iPhoto 08 is not a free download. It's part of iLife. You either get it with a new mac or buy it.You must have downloaded some fake program from P2P that's doing all this crazy stuff.

"I downloaded iPhoto 08 free, along with other free Apple downloads, after seeing this could be done in Preview."•What are you talking about?
"Now I find every day my chosen desk top picture...replaced by Apple Adverts for their products. I cannot get any response out of Apple either, or find out how to switch off the interference."
•Totally bizarre behavior...there are no "Apple Adverts" anywhere in the system that I know of. Perhaps you're talking about the RSS screen saver that shows Apple News? I wonder if you need to repair permissions? It sounds like your choice of screen saver just "isn't sticking".
"Having said that I found that the update of Comic Life was excellent and better."
•Not an Apple product. Previously included on the hard drive, but not a program that Apple maintains.
