I would like to say that this application works GREAT! But...

There's no way to tell and no way to test it. So it could do absolutely nothing for you and nobody would know. The only way to tell if its actually working might be to have your laptop stolen and then attempt to recover it. Problem with that is that you'll be busting yourself if it DOES work.

There should be some sort of way to see if this works - I upgraded to v.2 and I didn't even get a confirmation email of the update being successful- There's no internal IP/Port to hit for status or anything.

All I CAN say is that I HOPE it's working as advertised. I'm being fair I think (I did buy a license because if it works then it'll more than pay for itself).
