As I came to versiontracker looking for a freeware ftp app I was surprised to find so few. I decided to try crossFTP as the developer made it sound so easy and complete. Well, I find this app far from easy and the gui is in my opinion complicated. However it does what I wanted for it to do so I can't be too critical of it. I find it bad that even the developer's note here at versiontracker indicating how to fix the error message upon launching the app doesn't reflect what the apps is (the port issue). The menu described doesn't exist. The app will seem far from your typical user friendly Mac app from the get go. The file type is odd but it will decompress on its own. It mounted to my desktop (no choice given) which means moving it to a folder later. There's no downloads folder so you have to dig your hd for your downloads. The interface uses language that only geeks will understand. So if you're a veteran ftp user you'll be familiar with the jargon here. New users will be completely lost. I truly didn't know what I was doing and I find this app to be extremely complicated and the instructions even worse. Your typical app designed by a computer geek with instructions written by the same person. But it connected on the first try and the port situation resolved itself on its own. Perhaps I got lucky and you may too. So you get what you pay for. And that's a good deal if you ask me.
