I'm getting some files that are not identical and I'm wondering if this is because names or creation dates are different. In other words, does File Compare look at the file name and date when it concludes that the files themselves are not identical?

As for the way the software functions, it's simple, clear and works fine as far as I can tell.

I've always liked the MD5 idea for checking lots of different kinds of things. Especially for confirming that audio file transfers have gone down without error. This is especially helpful when taking an audio CD master to the duplication facility. It's a good way to check that the audio got in the way it should.
