I've been using Acquisition for years and I did receive an email from the developer with the new activation. While I've been reasonably content with the older versions, v.2 don't keep a connection for longer than 30 seconds! Anyone having similar problems?

As I mentioned in another post, below, I had the same problem...since then, I completely removed all preferences and other files associated with Acquisition and then did a new install. That “seemed” to clear up the problem. I still had a few disconnects but fairly rarely...but the other problem where when I DID get a disconnect, I had to quit the app and re-launch continues.Monday, October 15 2007 @ 02:49 PM PDT

Tried both your suggestions (increased the number of connections after completing deleting all Acquisition-related files). Reinstalled. Saw it load new Gnutella components. Stayed up a little longer--maybe 5-7 minutes and then disconnected. This did not happen with the pre-2.0 version. No response from the author either.Tuesday, October 16 2007 @ 08:32 PM PDT
Don't stay connected--even worse now - nestorph
Great--just loaded release 201. Now I don't get ANY kind of connection (at least with the first release I got connections for about a minute or two!) And yes, I did delete all Acquisition-related files.Thursday, October 18 2007 @ 03:36 AM PDT
Correction! Seems OK now - nestorph
I wiped out all the Acq related files again, including the plist prefs and now the connections seem to be holding up (at least for the last five minutes).Thursday, October 18 2007 @ 03:44 AM PDT

Good to hear. That has been my result with build 201 too. Hope it lasts. I really do like Acquisition and would hate to see it turn bad on us.Thursday, October 18 2007 @ 04:23 AM PDT

Yes..same problem. It did work well once I did a complete re-install of 10.4.10, but then it started dumping it's connections. It actually workedgreat for a day or two, but I think it muddled itself after it was shut down. Probably in that shutdown sequence it goofs up somewhere so that when you fire it up again it's screwed.
I will keep trying the continued updates, I think he wants to get it right..after all, 201 came pretty fast on the heels of 200. Will try 202, etc.
Probably other problems come with the need to use java 1.5 (which actually has TWO updates to it!) while so many other aps need 1.42. Conflicts ensue.

Yes, 2.0 is nothing less than a connectivity nightmare. Do you have the old version? I want to reinstall it, but I stupidly trashed it.Sunday, October 21 2007 @ 01:11 PM PDT

I downloaded some files last night to try it out and I didn't have any problems with it being disconnected. You may need to set it to connect to more sources. I have mine set to the maximum of 5.Reply to This
