Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

I've been using SoundConverter for maybe three years but when I get a new Mac I won't be renewing it. I appreciate that the developer needs to make a living, but making the license machine-specific only discourages people from continuing to use the product, and perhaps encourages those who know how to crack the app and start giving the cracks away.

When this app stops working because it says the license is no longer valid, I'll toss the app. I've already done that with a few that follow the same type of machine-specific scheme. New machine new license? Phooey. That's why I've dropped my rating for this app to one star and recommend that users not get this, and find something with a more civil licensing scheme.

Trash License Plan- Why??!! - Ras-x

Look,I find it hard to understand the real issue here. The cost of this product is sooooo small, compared to almost every other music app or plug in. Much more expensive apps are machine specific, eg. Peak. The reality is that if it's not machine specific you will have many people buying and sharing with fiends, and not being machine specific it will run - and Steve looses needed funds.

Why does he need those funds? Well, it takes time to develop a good app - and this is a very good app. It takes time to build your user support base, and for some time you do not cover your costs until that base is established. Steve also provides FREE and very regular updates. He covers these costs from that original fee.

The app its self is stable and has in my many years of experience with it, run almost faultlessly. When an issue has arisen, Steve is easy to contact and responds very quickly.

Get a grip on reality folks!
