Why is real Memory usage so extremely high? Why???

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 6-12 months

I really like this utility, but I've recently discovered that the combination of the menu bar and the background engine are using more 'real' memory than iTunes itself!!!

(This comparison is made when iTunes is idling).

I can not fathom why this simple utility must be such a RAM glutton. And so gluttonous even when idling! Can anyone explain it?

I've recently noticed slowdowns on my computer which appear to be swap-related, so memory-hungry apps are definitely not popular round here, especially if they offer 'mere convenience'.

No matter how convenient I find You Control Tunes, there's nothing convenient about a spinning beach ball over my Mail app.
