Several years ago I was able to quit using MS Office.
I use OpenOffice.org, the X11 version, on Mac OS X.
I use it at home and at the office.
My staff of 4 had little difficulty with the switch.
I am very pleased with OOo.
However, at the moment the Aqua version does not allow one to select attributes for the printer (tray, duplex, etc).

Improved printer support is coming to the aqua version within the next month. After that there will be even better integration introduced.Wednesday, March 12 2008 @ 02:09 AM PDT
Successful Use Of OOo - A Nony Mouse
You essentially live my dream. I would love to dump MS Office for good- unfortunately I can't because of some small things that make writing so easy. I use Text Boxes and nothing really comes close.. they always seem to get messed up in an import and I've used lots of software like OOO and NeoOffice and Mellel (which I really like) as well as Pages. Pages is the closest but has an odd way of doing the things I need.. Functionality is there but it takes some getting used to before you can use it as freely as time tested MS Office.I'll continue to use OOO lightly but forsee the native version with true OS X GUI (without X11) taking over. I can't wait!
