Keep Player Windows On Top vs. editing

Feedback Type:  Usage Tip

Contributed by: sjk Monday, September 24 2007 @ 03:36 PM PDT

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

Thought it worth mentioning that program editing is disabled when v2.5's new "Keep Player Windows On Top" option in the View menu is enabled.

Still disappointed by total lack of EPG saved search capability; even a simple toolbar search history would be helpful.

And Elgato still hasn't been able to get TitanTV/Decisionmark to fix the incomplete EPG download problem that I reported two months ago.

EyeTV does have Saved Searches for the Program Guide - nick24

EyeTV 2.5 does have Saved Searches for the Program Guide part of the EyeTV Programs window.

1) Visit the Program Guide in the EyeTV Programs window
2) Type a term in the search box.
3) If you don't press Return, then the search will complete, but won't be saved.
4) If you do press Return after you enter the search term, then the search will complete, and will be added to your Saved Searches.

To see your Recent Searches, click on the magnifying glass icon to the left of the search field.

You can also "Clear recent Searches" via that icon.

Hopefully this is the feature you were looking for.

As for any Program Guide issues with TitanTV, please contact Elgato Support at http://support.elgato.com, or update your support ticket, so we can follow up with TitanTV.

OK, nice. But that needs to be made much more obvious, please.

Also, the relationship between the always-on-top mode, and the grayed out Edit button eludes me.

Overall, great product though. And support is outstanding!

D'oh! I missed the toolbar search history while fussing with the "Keep Player Windows On Top" setting. Thanks ; that's what I've been looking for … until a more automatic searching feature like I've previously suggested is implemented. :)

Is there any way to increase the number of saved items (currently 10)? Does it use the "Number of Recent Items" for Documents under the Appearance pane of System Preferences?

I reported the still-unresolved EPG issue to Elgato Support on July 21st; Ticket ID JGL-904555.

Hey, at least you figured that relationship out :)
I was like, dude, WTF?

Thanks.

Keep Player Windows On Top vs. editing - sjk

There's a new FAQ about it:

Editing Recordings is disabled when Keep Player Windows On Top is turned on

It's not much of an issue for me since I rarely watch recordings on my computer, preferring instead to mostly stream them to EyeHome (which, unlike AppleTV, supports MPEG-2) and occasionally burn DVDs.

Thanks. That is weird issue that I could not solve and could not even find an answer on at Elgato's site!
