Does anyone know of a similar app that doesn't pack all of your files into a database file?
As with other comments here, I don't want to lose all of my data.
What we need is an iApp like iPhoto or iTunes where all of the files are stored in normal files on the hard drive. This way, there is no database to corrupt and your data is safe!
I did email the author and they are not planning on changing this any time soon.
Maybe there's another app out there someone else knows of.
I want the smart folders views and power of the iLife suite, but for all of my files.

try a bibliography program.Bookends works for me, I started with it for scientific references but have extended to all manner of business related pdfs. All the descriptors and any notes go on a key page in the bibliog file and the attachment is moved to join all others in a single folder.
