I keep getting the software update notice about iTune. Since the reasons for it are iPhone related ( I have no intention to have any cellphone much less the expensive iPhone) and so called stability issues ( My iTunes works just fine as it is)-- I ask you-why should I update? Can't I turn off the annoying reminder about it?

Go to the Software Update preference pane and select iTunes in the list of updates, go to the Update menu and select "Ignore Update..." That should do it. Until the next release, that is.

Humm...ok, you don't know enough about the basic OS to know how to turn off specific software updates but you know better than Apple when you should or shouldn't update. uh huh... Seriously, keep your permissions repaired, update as directed, and make backups. Don't start getting creative until you REALLY understand the possible impact and can recognize what to do if confronted with an issue later. if you begin to selectively apply updates. I'm all for holding off a few weeks but your talking something completely different and with a totally different intent.
