I agree with you completely however no Garmin USB driver for Mac OS X is available. When Garmin releases a Mac OS X USB driver for their USB GPS units, support for USB will be added to iGPS.

Garmin have promised Apple support for some time but the release date keeps getting moved back. Whether this is due to their capabilities to write Apple software or for some other reason, I don't know.

Garmin, in general, is not very forthcoming with the technical information necessary required by developers to write software for their USB products.

You may want to email Garmin and let them know of your interest in having USB support for Macs.

Strange you would say such a thing when my USB GPs works with my Mac just fine. I have used it with MacGPS Pro, Route Buddy and Google Earth Pro just to name a few. As far as Apple making a driver for it, there is no 'driver' needed, the software just has to use the existing USB port driver and communicate using the Garmin protocol as these other software packages do. I also have several apps made by Garmin which do communicate with it but are of no use since this is just a GS receiver and not a mapping, track and routing device.

iGPS was developed specifically for serial interface GPS units.

I really don't know how to make this any clearer as this is explicitly stated in the User Manual and at the website. There are GPS applications available that will communicate with some Garmin USB units so use them if you need USB.
