Screensavers come from the old CRT days. Modern CRTs (not many available anymore) and specifically LCD panels don't suffer burn in. Screensavers were also used a security device (locked the screen until the user logs back in).

But with LCD panels you are not doing yourself a favor using a screensaver. Having the screen on shortens its life. Let the screen go blank and use log-in security for security. LCDs come on instantly (unlike old CRTs which need time to come up to proper operating temp).

From a LCD panel manufacturer: "Using a screensaver with a flat panel or LCD screen actually reduces the lifetime of the display since the backlight remains lit and ages faster than it would if the screen was turned off completely."

"Screensaver" is kind of an oxymoron in this respect. I'm puzzled as to why people spend money to lessen the life of their expensive LCD screens.

Oh well, each to their own. p.s., the fish are cute; it is nicely done.
