Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Before this update I had only two ports which show closed instead of stealthed. Now I have only 5 that show stealth. Does anybody know if its even possible to stealth this thing? The update failed on the first pass and I had to reset to defaults. After that I could connect with it but this lack of security is mind boggling. If Apple would have made it clear that they don't consider a "stealth mode" to be necessary I never would have bought this thing. Hopefully, Macfixit will have instructions on how to revert to earlier firmware. Never had such issues with Linksys routers. Wake up Apple, this is stupid!

AWFUL - w i n t e r m u t e

Your comment makes little sense. You went from two to five stealth ports, but you don't know if the base station supports stealth? What? Your comments seem to contradict themselves. Please clarify.

AWFUL - lisfolks

I agree with you totally, bratdaddy! (And, I know what you're saying - there are a ton of ports, so it's easier to note how many were not stealthed initially vs how many are stealthed now - which isn't many!)

I have been a LinkSys user in the past, and proud of my "stealthed" system. Even though it may not be necessary to be invisible to the 'net, it does keep your system out of the eyes and minds of potential attackers.

If Apple doesn't put this capability in, my next router will be once again a LinkSys or another brand that respects my desire to be invisible to hackers.
