Whilst this is a really useful troubleshooting tool, the developer has decided to charge for each download - so technically this is not shareware, but a commercial product, but with no update provision. The developer indicated to me in an email that it was 'all too hard to do it any other way' when I queried this. Strange, but true.
So, even if you have paid the 1.39 charge to download a previous version, if you wish to download the latest version you must pay again, regardless of whether it is a major or minor update. When you 'purchase' the software you are given an expiring URL to your download. If you need to redownload there is that option to request a new URL, but this is just for the version previously downloaded, not the latest version. You get a password protected .dmg which you unlock with a password provided with the URL email.
Whilst I'm not sure that you can produce a demo of a CLI software, I would have thought the password-protected .dmg would be sufficient to allow paying supporters of the product to stay current with bug fixes etc, rather than have to pay each and every time - otherwise what incentive is there to support the developer? This needs to be made clear.

Common less than $2 - what's the beef? - kgould1
Surely you can't begrudge the guys their paltry fee, Memtest has saved me a lot of aggro, I just cannot in good conscience complain that the upgrades are chargeable when the fee is trivial.Reply to This
