Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

Its a really interesting and useful idea, but the execution is a bit rough. Often causes the Airport menu to redraw partially/strangely or fail to appear forcing you to many-click the airport icon to get a list of networks to select/see. Samples of network strength seem to be inaccurate when compared against other wi-finder desktop programs.

Very annoying is the absence of an uninstall. The program begs you for money/registration and you cannot get rid of it and its aggressive begging. Even the totally manual install described on their web site (find the package deep in the OS X library and delete it) fails to completely uninstall -- leaving a beg-ware menu attached to the Airport menu forever.

Interesting but uneven performance. Cryptic/impossible uninstall. - Malus

Good day!

Thank you for the feedback - I will see what we can do about an uninstaller. I want to assure you, however, that if you follow the uninstall instructions, remove the bumdle from the Library folder and restart your Mac, there is no way for WiFind to still be loaded, even partially, in your Airport menu. It is imperative that your estart your Mac however...

As for the inaccurate network strength readings, WiFind uses the exact same tool as the Airport menu - so the readings are as accurate as the Airport menu's icon is. It should be known, however, that some networks are highly unstable, i.e. their signal changes very quickly - so by the time two applications make the reading, they might be different strength values...

Again, thank you fo the feedback, we are listening!

RE: unstable networks.

I travel fairly frequently and occasionally have to deal with unstable networks. Sometimes networks are very strong, but drop out every few minutes. If you want to differentiate your product from the rest, I suggest finding a way to sample the signal strength over time, and indicate which networks have the most frequent drops out or instability.
