This company charges exorbitant prices for upgrades. Too often. I've stuck with EndNote for a __long__ time and am just about fed up with useless features. I just want a biblio software that: provides a database of literature references, and formats those references as citations in Word (and, wishfully, other apps) reliably. Why can't they just hone the essential features, and keep those updated for OS evolution? Any recommendations for a replacement?

There are two other very popular ones called Sente and Bookends. I'm actually looking into both as a first time user of this type of software. As far as a replacement for Word, there is Mellel which integrates with both of these.

If you buy Mellel and Bookends together you even get a discount. The developers of each application have combined forces to bundle their software. You can order the bundle from either developer's page if it looks like something you might be interested in. I'm thinking of buying it myself in the near future.
