Old news, I think - I already have v.7.3.1 installed on my machine and have had for some time - Digidesign say this version was released 10 Jan '07 - so how does Versiontracker have it as 15th Aug ?!!

Definitely old news. Digidesign is already up to Pro Tools version 7.3.1cs4, which can be found here: http://digidesign.com/index.cfm?langid=100&navid=54&itemid=23300. Why versiontracker.com would be posting this in mid-August as a "new" update is a mystery to me, frankly.
