I could swear way back when those of us who have had licenses forever where asked to upgrade being told it was a one time fee. Yet we are being asked to pay more money?
It's a great product I've used since the mid-90s but I don't like being told no more upgrade fees and then be charged. It reallllly annoys me.

fee? - OrCrush
Several versions back (I believe it was when OSX came out) Thornton Lemke explained his decision to charge a fee for the then-current version. His reasoning was that when he first set it up as a 'pay once' shareware program, he hadn't realized how much it would take to maintain some years down the road.On one hand, sure you can argue that it's a reversal...but who else charges $35 bucks only for dot-zero version upgrades? Try getting the same deal from Adobe for Photoshop....

Could you please provide a proof that you were told you would never have to pay an update again?I was pleasantly surprised, but I did not expect it.
