I REALLY like the interface. But haven't been able to use it for much during the 10 day trial. I wish it was a ten use trial instead of 10 days. I do TONS of high-end retouching for catalogs and often get layouts along with my source files, which are usually sent via DVDs. I thought this was a good way to catalog them. It was but I was able to use it only a couple of times before it timed out.
I had showed it to a few of my clients but they wanted me to "test" it out for them before they would even think about getting it. So I'm the guinea pig. Being a freelancer in the Midwest, my clients also look to me for Mac and graphic tech support as well as the design and DTP stuff. So I would like to recommend but can't at this time since I've used it for so few times.
One thing I'll say is that it's easy, the indexing seems to take a bit of time, but not outrageous considering it was from a full DVD with low-res, medium res FPO files AND final high-res images for spreads. My biggest conern was off-line browsing. which it did really well. I wanted to stay away from Portfolio and had used Cumulus a long time ago, which I liked. But some new clients have finally necessitated the need for something like this.
• easy to use (so far)
• not too slow
•OFF-LINE BROWSING! great if you have lots of CDs and DVDs and HDs that you don't always keep online.
• unfortunately, I didn't have time to test to see if it did .ai and .indd files.
It's too bad they don't have a real beta test program, I'd like to sign up!
good luck!
