LaunchBar is definately the best application launch utility. I've been switching to Butler and a few other launch utilities but have alsways come back to LaunchBar. Now the latest version is done so well that I een don't think I will try any other utility! I like ability to copy and paste contact info with one shortcut. This is amazingly nice feature!
Just add Spark shortcut manager (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22675) and all your application launching needs are solved. Spark is good for creating shortcuts, like Ctrl+Option+Command+ the first letter of most often used applications. This way, I just press Ctrl+Option+Command+M to launch Mail, Ctrl+Option+Command+K to launch Keynote, Ctrl+Option+Command+P to launch Pages, etc. Or press Ctrl+ first letter of the folder name. Ctrl+D opens Desktop, Ctrl+Shift+D opens Documents folder, Ctrl+P opens Pictures folder, Ctrl+M opens Movies folder, Ctrl+Shift+M opens Music folder, etc.
Both Spark and LaunchBar combined together solves all application launching and folder opening needs. Highly recommended!
