I hacked my original firmware with jailbreak to add more ringtones and this update forced me to restore my phone. =(

You both completely missed the point of my post. I did expect this to occur with the update. I'm not even complaining that I had to restore.I simply have lots of friends with iPhones who have done the same thing to their phones to add ringtones and get other functionality that is already in their iPods but have been removed from the iPhone. They were all curious to know if this update would require a restore. I found out that it did and I thought I'd pass that info along to the greater community. It isn't a major inconvenience but the restore and re-syncing of all the data takes a while.
Don't shoot the messenger. Better yet, get a life.

what did you expect? That Apple would make their patch compatible with yours and other folks' hacked system? I don't think so! It's in the nature of things that you'll have to re-hack your iPhone. We should be grateful that Apple didn't send us back to square one with this, raising the hurdles to break back in.Reply to This
