Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

I tried this (BGBlitz) and another Backgammon game called Absolute Backgammon.

BGBlitz seems to play very well but the interface and graphics need polish. Some niggles with the interface is that it seems to move your piece instantly not letting you grab the piece and move it yourself. Maybe there's a way around this.

Graphics are too small and rather dull, and the pieces look slightly funky.

I'd recommend Absolute Backgammon although that also isn't in 3D, too bad there seems to be no good 3D games around.

Needs polish - bgblitz

Frank Berger, the author,:

The interface needs some polish (partly due some bugs in Apple Java), and the next release in September will be pretty polished.

I didn't understood the issue with the checker movement you mentioned. If you please could explain that.

Well there are graphics themes up tp 1800 pixels, so I think this isn't really small and you have more than 40 themes to choose from. Lighter and darker one, there surely fits one your taste.

If you recommend the Abs. BG you should take the following into account:
- playing strength (BGBlitz plays better as any human and Abs. plays intermediate level)
- do you get a real tutor or move estimations with exact winning percentages?

If playing strenght and exact winning percentages (and a lot of other things) and hence improving your game is not important to you, it's a tossup otherwise you don't have a real choice....

Needs polish - no longer - bgblitz

It's too bad that you're account seems not to be valid anymore, but I think you would like 2.4 and now 2.5. Not only polish but eye candy too
