macam app works, but no joy with component

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Macam app works great, but can't get the .component to work. I'm using OSX 10.3.9, macam 0.9.1 and vimicro generic camera.

I have tried removing all other QT components but cannot get the camera to be detected with Camspinner, BTV, Skype, or EVOcam.

Interestingly the .component comes up as a folder - not the 'lego' looking icon as seen in screenshots.

Anyone have a solution?? I have searched the web and come accross several other people with this problem, but no solution...

macam app works, but no joy with component - fonefixdirect

UPDATE:

Tried older versions of MACAM(0.90, 0.89) and camera is now detected in ALL applications, however, the screen is black in ALL applications, including macam.app!!

I have exactly the same issue on a G5 - the component package shows itself as a folder, and thus is not detectable I believe as a driver within QuickTime. However, when I install the same macam app on a G4 PowerBook, the component shows itself and behaves correctly, permitting my Logitech Webcam to function correctly. Same system on both machines (10.4.10). Go figure.
