I needed the italian dictionary, therefore I found the Debian page http://packages.debian.org/stable/text/witalian and installed it in my system. Some workarounds and Makefile changes were necessary to complete the installation (as root).
1. download the source package, expand and move to the directory with command line
2. in Makefile changed every occurrence of "-g root" with "-g wheel", because the group root was not present in my system
3. create as root the /usr/man/man5 directory
4. issue command "make"
5. as root issue command "make prefix=/usr install"
Then NACW can work with italian by choosing the dictionary /usr/share/dict/italian, and of course the italian dictionary is also available for other unix applications.
Enjoy!
