This game has excellent strategy responses, plays very well (it's the best one i've tried, but I've not tried that many). The price is also reasonable. The animations and the interface are another story. It's really the exact opposite of games such as Freeverse's Big Bang Backgammon, which has smooth animations and a beautiful interface but quite poor computer strategy.

I'd give this game a higher score (and probably buy it) if the author would consider updating the interface. It really is quite aged and there are several little niggles with the UI - things like the computer animation being too quick while suddenly the pace slows down while a synthesised voice reads out an obvious comment (no option to switch it off!!). I continuously found myself click everywhere to try to make it stop talking, as i'm used to fast pace in backgammon.
As for the quality of the graphics, lets just say I would want any one see me play this on my beautiful new Macbood Pro!

It really needs to be coded in cocoa. Graphis don't have to be "lickable aqua" but should really be updated out of the 1990's. But this is otherwise an excellent backgammon game.

Good backgammon game - game author

Thanks for the review. I agree that it would be nice to have updated graphics. But is way too difficult to do in this version. It has been available and improved for over 10 years now. It was created for fast download when connections speeds were very slow and floppy disks were used instead of CDs.

But many people don't need better graphics. They like if for other reasons.

You can turn off the speed of select Fast Play for much faster play. The game is very customizable.

For better graphics, try my newer backgammon game - Absolute Backgammon. You have many board styles/skins to pick from.
