"Reveal in finder" (right click on a font, ) is causing a major lag on my machine, the Finder does not respond for a while, spinning beach ball etc. After a miunute or so the finder reveals the font. Anybody having the same problem?

Reproduce? - Sceptimus
It always happens, whether I select 1 or multiple fonts or postscript, open type or true type fonts. Sometimes nothing happens, the font is not revealed in the Finder.Sunday, July 15 2007 @ 09:08 AM PDT
Reproduce? YES. - bosskev
Yes, I can reproduce exactly the same behavior as the original poster. In line with your request, Gritsch, I have tried, in turn:1 TrueType font selected
1 PostScript font selected
1 OpenType font selected
1 each TrueType, PostScript and OpenType fonts selected (3 total)
4 TrueType fonts selected (4 total)
Each time I got the spinning beach ball--are you ready for this?--for EXACTLY 2 mintues, not a second more, not a second less. Five different combinations selected and yet each timed out identically the same. Could this two minute thing be a clue? Also, I have a very large library, somewhere around 9500 fonts, if that info can help.
But not to discourage others because of this odd (and fairly unimportant to me) behavior, I have to say I LOVE FontExplorer X and highly recommend it! I just won't be attempting to "reveal in Finder" for a while...

AppleScript - Gritsch_Gabriel_819
Hi,FEX reveals the files using an AppleScript that looks like this:
tell application "Finder" to (select {file "Tiger:Library:Fonts:Zapfino.dfont"}) activate
Is it possible that you are not permitted to execute Apple-Scripts?
Thank you!

AppleScript seems to be fine - bosskev
No, I don't think lack of permission to execute AppleScripts is what is going on. While I don't consciously use AppleScript--never had a reason to--I've also done nothing to disable it. I assume a standard installation of Mac OS X includes AppleScript enabled. It is my own computer, not subject to any control from another administrator, so nobody has done anything to it.In any case, I just went into the AppleScript folder and played around, launching Script Editor and several of the pre-installed scripts, everything seemed to launch and do whatever it was supposed to do--although, again, I must admit an ignorance of how to really use AppleScript.

AppleScript, oops, one other thing - bosskev
Sorry, I just realized I never stated or clarified one VERY important point. The "Reveal in Finder" function WORKS, it just always takes exactly two minutes. So, yes, the AppleScript is working, just extremely slowly.Monday, August 06 2007 @ 12:02 PM PDT
I hate AppleScript - Gritsch_Gabriel_819
I hate AppleScript but there is no other way to reveal more than 1 file in finder. But lets c if it works with osascript insteat of NSAppleScript...

Reveal in finder - ratz
Not here, in fact when I tried it I accidentally had a whole font family selected and it opened all 6 windows to reveal the fonts VERY quickly!Friday, July 20 2007 @ 06:29 PM PDT
FIXED in version 1.2.2! - bosskev
With the 1.2.2 update, this problem has gone away, at least for me.Thursday, August 23 2007 @ 09:12 PM PDT
