This update is realy significant. One of the major, and I mean Major, improvements is the ability to connect to external SQL databases. Live connections to MySQL, wow! Now it's possible to use the ease of creating lay-outs in Filemaker to create great interfaces for SQL databases.
And it works realy well. For instance a MySQL date field (yyyy-mm-dd) is converted to a Filemaker, more readable, format dd-mm-yyyy (or whatever you choose in your lay-out) and all changes are written back in the correct MySQL format.

This is the Filemaker I've been waiting for since Filemaker 6. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

And why would you think that? I'm not a Filemaker employe or related to Filemaker Inc. in any matter. I'm a database- and webdeveloper and a longstanding user of Filemaker (since version 3).And I realy am very enthousiastic about Filemaker 9. Try it, and you'll like it, too.
