Peak / Offpeak indicator faulty

Used Product For: 6-12 months
Used to work fine until about a month ago. Now the indicator always states a 'Peak' period (type in bold) when selected in dropdown from Apple Menu.
System Info:10.4.10 on a Powerbook G4
