The problem with all of the programs like this on the Mac is that they don't work with WIndows or with Linux. Which means that the user can only use encryption with other Mac users which, in my case, is just about useless. This is in no way a criticism of this program, but of literally all of the Mac encryption stuff I have seen so far.

Well yes, that's right. TextCrypt is not for windows.
I develope software for mac only. Maybe I will try to develope a version for windows later. I don't know.
