Although this post says the update is for the LIDE 25, the Canon site also lists this update for the LIDE 500F. I'd guess it is appropriate for a number of Canon scanners.

Not for LIDE 20 - nomade1

tried this app on my MacPro (Intel) w LIDE 20. as said above, it looks good, but won't find a driver...
