Printers dead

Feedback Type:  Review

Contributed by: les.woods1 Friday, June 22 2007 @ 01:54 AM PDT

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

After doing the permissions and installing, all seemed fine - internet etc until I tried to print something. Nothing happened.

Went to delete my printers and add again, waited for Printer Setup Utility to start and nothing - just freezes. So force quit. Nothing. Again and again and again. Nothing. Restarted machine and it started up then closed down and started up again (keeps on doing it everytime you start it up now).

Tried to open Printer Setup utility from the apps folder and get an error -600.

So, it appears I can use Indesign etc (handy as a designer) but unfortunately cannot print to anything at all (very, very bad as a printing company).

First time I've had a bad experience with an update so I mustn't grumble - but I am because my business has ground to a halt until I (or Apple preferably) can sort it out.

Tried the CUPS interface? - Angostura-3

discussions.apple.com is probably the best place to go for help, but two things spring to mind...

1. Find and delete every printer-related plist you can find.
2. Try using the build in Web-based print management interface by going to:

http://127.0.0.1:631/

You may be asked for a username and password - that's an admin user shortname you need in there.
