"Update cannot be applied.to the product. Please re-install the product and try again."
I tried re-downloading the update twice and suspect that Illustrator CS3 has become spontaneously corrupted.
Gee, sure would be nice if the software updates for Adobe's paying customers went as smoothly as those for Reader... Sigh. Guess I'll just wait a few days and see if things settle down. I remember this same process for CS2, dammit, and had to reinstall 2 or 3 times.
I'm somewhat surprised that so much activity occurs in ~/Library/Caches/ ...
Moreover, my ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/SoftwareUpdates/AdobeSoftwareUpdate.log reports a bum checksum

Failed for me also.Adobe needs to get this fixed. I had problems with CS2 updates also.
For the record I'm a big Adobe fan but they need to fix this even if it means a major change in the way the Apps update.

Same thing happened to me, but I checke Adobe's tech support site. Here's the reason for it, and the fix:http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402323&sliceId=1

Ditto for me!Updating Adobe's products has really become a pain recently. Seems that the installer never works properly!
