Found "X Font Info" while searching for a program in which I can view uninstalled fonts -- without bringing my system to a screeching halt on log-in, as with Suitcase.
Technically, this program lets you do that -- but only in the same sense as Apple Font Book lets you do it. You open a font, look at it, decide whether to install it. Thanks, but I'll just use Font Book for that.
I was hoping for something LIKE Suitcase (or Linotype "Font Explorer" -- also good), that lets me easily view all the fonts I have (without installing them) but that I could run only when I need to -- and keep the VAST majority of my fonts un-installed.
Oh well. It appears to be old (2002) and is probably no longer even supported, in any case.
