Here was the process:
Download beta - install beta - reboot - look - cry - uninstall beta - reboot -cry again -go through hell to fix things the beta broke.
Why would a Safari download mess with the Dock? i don't know, but it did. I had TransparentDock and when the Safari Beta was installed, it KILLED TransparentDock. Even when I uninstalled the beta, TD says the "dock software was not compatible" and sure enough it was a different dock than before. Why? I had to play in terminal, disable dock, replace dock, kill...all crap to replace the Dock.app with a fresh copy from someone.
Oh, and it also killed ShapeShifter.

Was able to run "uninstaller" in Pacifist (which is how I installed it of course) and everything's back to normal including Shapeshifter and my transparent dock. However, I don;t use Transparent Dock anymore as it isn't Intel native: using Clear Dock instead. Entire process of installing—seeing Sarari 3 crash repeatedly—and uninstalling took 2 minutes.Hope this proves useful.
