would be nice if the installer'd work

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

I've been trying to run this installer for 5 days now, and every time it hangs on the Updating Bridge CS3 2.1 progress bar and sits for hours, doing nothing... Why do Adobe's update installers work so miserably and obtusely? It's frustrating.

I have the same issue with the updater on my 17" MacBook Pro Core2Duo under 10.4.9.

Think I'm going to enable the "root" login for my system, log in as root, and see if the updater can run (previous Adobe Updaters have had issues with permissions)...

Oh my GOD! This is exactly what I was trying to tell the people at Adobe!!! They just didn't listen, blaming a firewall. I will try the root user trick and see if that works. Hmm don't like having to resort to that when I've just paid £1k for CS3 but still.

I'm the same. Hangs after about 500KB (of about 50MB!).

root user trick did not work. I've emailed some contacts at Adobe - something is seriously broken with their updaters...

Agreed. Back when CS2 had updates they always worked. These CS3 updates just seem to hang forever. I had to manually install the RAW converter, because I actually care about that. I've just started ignoring all the Bridge/Cue updates. I tried for days to get them to install - repair permissions, empty caches, reboot and start the install immediately (so no Adobe apps ever got launched), but nothing. Oh well.

Re-download the updaters - RobertHammen

No idea if anyone's still having this issue, but, after sending them copies of my failed update logs, my Adobe contacts sent me a new updater which works fine. I had issues with a total of 5 updaters - it appears that only Version Cue Client and Version Cue Server still have this issue/are awaiting updated updaters (as of 7/12/2007)...
