Remember, intel apple laptops can be used with the lid shut without any extra software. Just plug in a USB device and it wakes up.

What if you want to use BlueTooth peripherals, and wish to avoid plugging in a USB cable?
It appears that the only way to do this with a closed lid portable is via this utility.

This info is inaccurate. According to apple tech support, if you connect a USB keyboard and a USB mouse to your macbook or macbook pro, then insomnia won't be necessary. But other USB devices won't do the trick.

This is true but not completely true, if you simply want to use the laptop as a server with no extra devices you need a program like this, the same goes for if you want to move the machine from one meeting to another with out turning it off/sleeping.Or the plain classic examples i get: I dont want torrents to stop working when i walk around the house, I like to use my laptop as a big ipod
